Maverick Transportation announced Dean Payne of Waterford, OH, as their Driver of the Month for December 2011. Payne has been with Maverick over 11 years and has been a professional truck driver for 25 years.

"Dean is passionate about driving and about safety and it shows," said Fleet Manager Harold Seymour. "He's always in a good mood and does a great job overall, we are lucky he is a Maverick."

The last recipient of twelve Drivers of the Month for 2011, Payne has proven himself a leader in the company's fleet. He has been honored with multiple safety awards including a 5 year safe driving ring, a Million Mile Safe Driving Award, and a 10 year safe driving watch. He cites, "being a name and not just a number," as his favorite part of driving for Maverick.

Every month Maverick recognizes a driver from the company's fleet who takes pride in his profession and the company, employs safety, and maintains Maverick standards in all they do.  Employees vote from the twelve Drivers of the Month and the Driver of the Year will be announced at the end of 2011.  As Driver of the Month, Payne will also represent Maverick drivers on the prestigious Driver Advisory Council.
